You can stand with the Association in two ways: becoming a member, or offering what you know how to do.
Becoming a member
The Association carries out its activities “mainly through the work of its members”: members’ work is personal, spontaneous and voluntary, and cannot be remunerated in any way. Only actually incurred and documented expenses are reimbursed, within the limits set by the Board of Directors.
Becoming a member means sharing the goals for which the Association was created — supporting those who study the sea, promoting the safeguarding of the coastal and marine environment, spreading scientific knowledge — and helping to make them happen.
Contributing with your skills
Many of the things we do started with someone who offered a skill: a translation, a photograph, an evening well organised. You don’t need to be a member to lend a hand, and you don’t need to be a scientist.
- Outreach and communication — writing for the blog, managing social channels, explaining research in plain language.
- Translation — rendering the site’s content and articles into English.
- Illustration and design — posters, exhibition materials, images for the web.
- Photography and video — documenting events, expeditions and meetings.
- Event organisation — library game nights, screenings, public talks.
- Scientific expertise — marine biology, ecology, environmental sciences, for citizen-science projects and outreach activities.
